Playing and coaching competitive soccer has put me in the uncomfortable position of being, and seeing, an athlete doubled over in pain after taking a shot to the sensitive nut sack.
Testicles, or the family jewels, produce sperm and testosterone, and they are extremely sensitive due to their many nerve endings.
When a soccer ball meets the testicles, nerves quickly communicate to the player’s brain reminding him to be more careful—or the game won’t be the only thing he’s in jeopardy of losing.
